About Florida Federal Writers’ Project
The Federal Writers Project was created in 1935 as an employment project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA), the New Deal program established during the Great Depression. Unemployed writers, editors and scholars were hired to complete several writing projects, such as the American Guide series, which compiled information on states, counties and cities. This collection includes materials from Florida.
This is a sample of the much larger collection in print. Please check the catalog for items that are not digital.
