About Jacksonville Jewish Center Archives

For over thirty years, the first home of the Jacksonville Jewish Center was on the corner of Third and Silver Streets. In 1963, the community acquired a large property at 3662 Crown Point Road in Mandarin to better serve the growing Center. On Sunday, January 11, 1976, a caravan of automobiles followed an open truck upon which Center dignitaries sat carrying the community’s priceless Torah scrolls from the ark at Third and Silver to their new home in Mandarin. It was an historic event that culminated in a moving dedication ceremony. The new Jacksonville Jewish Center gained many additions, improvements and renovations over time to keep pace with the wide range of activities, events and celebrations of this vibrant community. The Jacksonville Jewish Center Archives includes photographs, yearbooks, A/V material, and other records belonging to the Center which chart its history and growth.
