About Olga Iglesias Project
The Olga Iglesias Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of classical music in Puerto Rico through humanities and arts programming in the schools of Puerto Rico. Named in honor of Olga Iglesias, a renowned Puerto Rican soprano known for her collaborations with the renowned cellist and composer Pablo Casals and her contributions as an educator at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, the project aims to keep the rich tradition of classical music in Puerto Rico alive and accessible through the humanities and live performances of this repertoire.
The Olga Iglesias Project integrates its once-hidden archival humanities collection into music education and appreciation workshops for school-aged children across Puerto Rico. Founded in 2020 by Iglesias’ grandson, Anthony Cheney Guzmán, the organization brings a unique fusion of humanities and music appreciation to the educational landscape, creating a fun and engaging learning experience for students.
Our mission is to spotlight our extensive collection for study and academic research while simultaneously enriching the cultural and educational environment of Puerto Rican schools. By combining the historical significance of our archives with live musical performances, we strive to inspire a new generation of music enthusiasts and scholars.
