The Committees
Miss Lynette deWeever Dolphin, Director
of CARlFESTA, has been charged with the
Administrative aspect of the Festival from
its inception.
Miss Dolphin, who is Chairman of the
National History and Arts Council, was
among the first to receive a Guyanese
national honours award Golden Arrow of
Achievement for her attainment in the arts
and service in their promotion.
Frank 0. Pilgrim Public Relations Officer
attached to the Prime Minister has been
serving as Commissioner for CARIFESTA.
'Mr. Pilgrim, Journalist, Broadcaster and
Dramatist has worked as P.R.O. to the
British Caribbean Welfare Commission in the
United Kingdom (1959 1962). Between
1962 1966, he covered the Caribbean for
B.S.C. and London Observer. He was
Vice-Chairman of Prime Minister's Advisory
Committee at Guyana Independence.
VI.s- Deeply interested in drama, Mr. Pilgrim is
S"9 both a playwright and an actor.
Co-ordinating Manager of CARIFESTA, popular
businessman and sports promoter Bernard 'Bunny'
Fernandes, had overall responsibility for the
transportation and- accommodation of visiting
CARIFESTA artistes and for all developmental and
other infra-structural work at Festival City and other
centres used during CAR IFESTA.
Mr. Fernandes who has been in the commercial
field for a number of years, is Operational
Superintendent and Director of John Fernandes
Limited, a firm of Shipping Agents.
Thanks are due to-all the members of the various Carifesta
Committees as well as to those who organised the Guides and Ushers
and the Stage Crews; special thanks must be offered to the Georgetown
Lions for organising the sale of tickets and to the Georgetown
Gardeners Club for floral decorations.
