"GROUNATION"

The Mystic Revelations of
R=stafari


The Rastafari Brethren are a religious/cultural sect whose
message is PEACE AND LOVE. Love "the cohesive force that
binds all events to make life purposeful for man to keep on
living". Their music, "systematic vibrations, is an ordain-
ed equitorial music (geophysically speaking) expressing the
cultural portrayal of our ancestral homeland Africa".

Once regarded as social outcasts because of their refusal to
embrace the colonial cultural forms, their insistence on
maintaining their African identity and persistent demands tfb
repatriation, the Rastafari have nevertheless attained in-
ternational recognition. Through the release of their three
volume album, "Grounation" their folk art is now recognized
as outstanding and unique. i


1. BONGOMAN: Rastafozi Brethren: A sect
within the Jamaican society whose concep-
tion, a religious culture, is based on the
Divinity of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selossie
I, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Mighty
Conquering Lion of Judah. Desirous of re-
turning to Kit and Kin Mother Africa
(Ethiopia).


2. MABRAT: A word within the Amharic Language
the national language of Ethiopia, meaning
light. Light travels at 186,000 miles per
second. So the tempo of the tune is Elec-
trical Impulse expressed in systematic
vibrations.


3, POEMS AND SONGS BY RAS JOSE: Lamentations
for deliverance. The harmful history of
the black man since captivity is more than
tongue can tell. We are now domiciled on
these foreign slave plantations in the
Caribbean (carry-us-beyond our borders).
We want to be in Africa, free, free, free.


4. LUMBA: LET FREEDOM REIGN: Musical expres-
sions mending the message by the "Funds" to
peoples of the earth. Freedom for all
means progress for all. Progress to rid
the earth of wars, diseases and the pestil-
ence that retard man's freedom to everlast-
ing life. ETHIOPIA SERENADE: Ethiopian
music stylizing the return of Rratofari
Brethren to Ethiopia making acquaintance
with our long lost Ethiopian Brothers after
400 years.

5. DANCE: Man's immcrtolity is in man's pro-
geny. This dance is one of our forefathers
principal ways of making love to his many
wives. From the Congo Basin, Central
Africa, this dance was named Yamaka.
