CARICOM Ministers Responsible for Culture
are responsible for all policy decisions on
CARIFESTA; while the planning and
organisation of each festival would be
carried out by the host country through
its national CARIFESTA Committee, headed
by a locally appointed Director-General.

Deepening the awareness and knowledge of
the people of the Caribbean;
Developing the content of the aesthetic
element of Caribbean culture;
Inspiring the continuation of local art
forms;
Promoting the importance of art to the
material well-being and development of the
society and encouraging the positive
commitment of the state to advancing this
development.
The CARICOM Secretariat through its Cultural
Officer plays a supporting role in the
development of the Festival and with
participating countries advising on and
assisting in the selection and preparation
of their national presentations
Participation in CARIFESTA is open to all
States in the Region.
