Royal Navy sub visits Kings Bay

By MC2 (AW/SW)
Kimberly Clifford
Submarine Group 10 Public Affairs
The Royal Navy Fleet
Submarine HMS
Trenchant (S91) arrived
in Kings Bay for a scheduled
port visit June 11. Home port-
ed at the Devonport Naval
Base, in Plymouth, England,
the Trenchant made the long
trip "across the pond" to
Southeastern Georgia's shores.
The official reason for the stop
in Kings Bay was to test and
update their weapons system,
but the stop is also gave the
crew some much needed lib-
erty.
"We've sailed since February,
with only a seven day stop,
so it's been a hard running
period, especially with the sea
training. It's really hard work,"
said Lt. Andy Perks.
Trenchant ended an extend-
ed maintenance phase in
February and now the crew is
working hard testing systems
and training new crewmem-
bers. Among those systems is
the Tomahawk Cruise Missile,
the same system as US Navy
fast attack and guided missile
submarines.
The United States and Great
Britain have been working

together on missile systems
since 1963 when the Polaris
Sales Agreement was signed.
England is the only other
country the United States
shares the Polaris, Trident and
Tomahawk missile technol-
ogy with. In honor of this long
lasting partnership, the British
flag is displayed alongside the
American flag in front of the
Strategic Weapons Facility
Atlantic.
While the boat received sys-
tems upgrades, the crew was
able to enjoy the Kings Bay
area.
"It's been really great.
The people are friendly,
but the bugs are terrible,"
said Electronics Technician
Engineering Submarine
(ETMESM) Adrian McCarthy.
The local beaches and base
facilities, like the pool and
bowling alley, became favor-
ite hangouts for the Trenchant
crew. The favorable exchange
rate also made shopping quite
an enjoyable pastime.
"This is my first visit and
it's been absolutely great. The
accommodations [at the TVQ]
are excellent. We've been
to the beach, to the malls in
Jacksonville, a trip to Savannah
- the shopping is great," said
Petty Officer Dave Haynes.

NMCRS wraps

2007 campaign

Sailors and Marines at
NSB Kings Bay helped
honor the Navy and
Marine Corps Relief Society's
motto of "Taking Care of their
Own," as they raised more
than $78,000 to help service-
members and families in need
during the annual NMCRS
fund drive.
The NMCRS raised more
than 99 percent of their goal
of $79,000 during the five-
week fund drive, which ran
from April 16 through May 18.
According to NSB Kings Bay
NMCRS Director Gail Tate,
the funds raised showed that
military members care about
providing support for fellow

Sailors who need a helping
hand.
"If we didn't have this fund
drive every year, we would not
exist," she said. "We always
have great participation at
Kings Bay. We always reach
our fund goal, which shows
how much the military cares
about helping their fellow mil-
itary members and families."
The NMCRS was founded
in 1904 and is a non profit
charitable organization. The
Department of the Navy
sponsored program oper-
ates more than 250 offices
ashore and afloat at Navy and
Marine Corps bases and ships
throughout the world. The
mission of the NMCRS is to

The Naval Branch Health
Clinic at NSB Kings Bay
recognized more than a
century of military service and
honored those who have fallen
before them during a celebra-
tion of the Hospital Corpsmen
Rating June 15.
The cake cutting ceremony
led by the most junior Sailor,
HNSA Mark Burgett, and
most senior member, retired
Physician Assistant HMCS(SS)
Fred Ewalt, marked the 109
years of military service excel-
lence by U.S. Navy Hospital
Corpsmen. According to NSB
Kings Bay Naval Branch Health
Clinic Administrative Officer
Lt. Cmdr. Philip Wessel, the cel-
ebration allows the more than

23,000 Hospital Corpsmen in
the Navy to remember and pay
their respects towards those
who died on the battlefield
helping others.
"The hospital corps is a
very tradition rich and proud
group of people," he said. "It
is not easy being a corpsman.
People see us in the clinics
and the hospitals, but don't
know we are serving on bat-
tlefields with the lives of 30
Marines depending on us."
The Hospital Corps was
established by an act of
Congress on June 17, 1898.
Prior to this, enlisted medi-
cal support in the Navy was
limited in scope. In the

From Naval Education and Training Command and
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Public Affairs

Recognizing that current operational tempo and sup-
port for the global war on terrorism have made it
challenging for some Sailors to complete their rating-
related associate degree, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike
Mullen has rescinded the requirement for chief petty officers
to have their associates degree to be eligible for advancement
to senior chief.
"Times have changed since we developed the requirement
two years ago," said Mullen. "We still view education as excep-
tionally valuable for our senior enlisted force. But we realize
that in light of the challenges Sailors face in today's dynamic
security environment, not everyone has the same opportunity
to pursue an associate degree."
Nearly nine months of analysis resulted in a set of statistics
CNO and the master chief petty officer of the Navy determined
too detrimental to the career opportunities of a significant
number of chief petty officers. If the policy were to remain in
effect, fully 35 percent of the chiefs eligible for advancement
in fiscal year 2011 would be at extreme risk of not meeting the
requirement.
"That 35 percent represented our most sea-intensive and
GWOT ratings;'," said Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy
(SW/FMF) Joe R. Campa Jr. "This places them at an unaccept-
able disadvantage in competing for advancement. Now, more
than ever, it is important that we advance our people based on
leadership and their commitment to the success of the men
and women they lead."
This policy revision shifts the focus from education as a
requirement for advancement to E8, to education as an impor-
tant consideration in selection for advancement. According to
Campa the revision is also tied to the CNO's endorsement of
chiefs as deckplate leaders.
"I strongly believe this policy revision is an indicator of
where the CNO wants us focused as a chief's mess -- leading
and developing Sailors;'," he said.
Campa emphasized that revising this policy should not be
viewed as the Navybacking away from its commitment to edu-
cation and added, "The right emphasis on education will be
placed in selection board precepts and will remain a contrib-
uting factor in selection for advancement. Our commitment
to education must be measured by the access and opportunity
we provide to our Sailors to pursue off duty education. We
must work to create those opportunities."
The Navy has a robust system of educational initiatives
designed to support Sailors as they pursue their careers,
including distance learning available in multiple formats

Briefly Speaking

New Photo Requirement for Officer Records
All officers are now required to have a full-length color
photograph in their official military file, according to
NAVADMIN 103/07 distributed to the fleet April 24.
Officers who do not have a photograph on the electronic
military personnel records system in their current grade
must submit a photograph before Sept. 30. The preferred
uniform willbe service khaki without a cover. When service
khaki is unavailable, any regulation uniform is acceptable.
The public affairs center detachment located at NS
Mayport, Fla. is the tri-base source for all official photo-
graphs. It is recommended officers needing a full-length
photo for selection board purposes prior to Sept. 30

detachment.
When official facilities are not available, officers are
authorized to use commercial sources. If commercial
sources are unavailable, officer may submit any color pho-
tograph that complies with the requirements outlined in
MILPERSMAN 1070-180.

Volunteers Needed for USO Welcome Center
The USO Welcome Center Jacksonville International
Airport (JIA) is a wonderful facility providing a safe haven
to military members. Our scheduled hours are 9 a.m. to
midnight Monday through Thursday; and 9 a.m. Friday
through 9 p.m. Sunday, 365 days a year. Our goal is to
remain open 24/7, but we need your help.
Visitors to the Welcome Center are either departing the
area and need a place to "hang out" until their flight leaves,
or are arriving and need assistance traveling to their duty
station.
Since opening on Veteran's Day 2004, we've assisted
more than 7,000 visitors annually and continue to receive
many expressions of gratitude. Due to the time involved in
training, operational procedures, and security issues, we
only accept volunteers who can make a weekly commit-
ment to a specific shift.
Individuals must be able to attend training before they
can volunteer. Training is generally held on Monday,
Friday, or Saturday evenings from 5 to 9 pm. In order to
volunteer, you must have access to email and be able to
check daily.
For specific details regarding Volunteering at the USO
JIA, please email lynne@usojax.com

My summer reading list

By Beth Wiruth

I love the sun! In myyounger
(more foolish days) I had a
bumper stickerwhich read,
"She who dies with the best
tan wins!" Ok, so not exactly
a healthy statement but the
point is I love being in the sun.
Each summer I caught up on
reading at the pool or beach.
So, now I pack the beach bag
with SPF45 and this year's
books. And, if you are looking
for some great reading mate-
rial for your tanning hours
here are a few I recommend
for military spouses.
Military Life: Let me recom-
mend several books in this
category. The first is one is my
favorite; The Homefront Club,
The Hardheaded Woman's
Guide to Raising A Military
Family by Jacey Eckhart is
a great read. Married twen-
ty years to her Sailor, Jacey
combines her honest insight
in heartfelt honesty. You will
laugh and, at times, cry at her
wisdom.
Second on my list is Heroes
at Home, Help & Hope for
America's Military Families
by Ellie Kay. Using both
humor and inspiration Ellie
offers insight, encouragement
and information for military
spouse.

are history. Both per-

their final shows. Both produc-

questions and offered audi-

performances. We will deal
with the serious questions,
eventually. Right now, enter-

important.
There is a scene in "Fightin;
Faith and Family" where one
of the cast's youngest mem-
bers drags an ax across stage,
pretending he is going to try
and help his stage dad by split-
ting some wood. His "show
father," showing perception
about kids and heavy tools,
discourages him by arguing
that if he attempted to chop the
wood, he would probably "cut
off his foot." Our young, highly
energetic thespian drops the
ax in mock disgust and shouts
"Aw, shucks!" much to the
audience's delight. Perceptive
audience members might
have noticed that young Ben

cutter, was barefoot. What they
could not have known is that
off stage, before and after that
scene, he was getting medical

attention from a doctor. Seems
the young actor's choice to
perform sans footwear cost
him a few painful moments
while Dr. Paul Cosenza fixed
up his feet, removing the wood
splinters he picked up sprint-
ing across the stage platforms
prior to and during the perfor-
mance. Dr. Paul, an eye doctor
by training and practice, com-
mented, "well, I have a lot of
practice getting things out of
people's eyes, I figured I could
get those splinters out of Ben's
feet." And, with that, the pro-
duction moved on.
Cast member Fred Myers,
whose portrayal of Pastor
Butler, the leader of the early
Clinches Chapel congregation
always moves me. On Friday,
Fred asked if could we find a
way to dim his spotlight some
because he was having some

visual and physical reactions
to the lights. We tried and he
came through, never letting
audiences know his personal
pain, but poignantly sharing
the emotional struggles of
those early black citizens with
audiences in concert with his
fellow cast members. And I
never failed to be moved by
actress Vernal Morrison's
recital of one woman's com-
mentary on the days of segre-
gation; how hurtful and disap-
pointing those historical days
were, and yet how philosophi-
cal she was about her life and
her treatment in the past. Her
delivery of the lines about the
importance of forgiveness and
the quality of forgiveness (if
you don't forget the injustice,
you didn't really forgive the
evildoer) will always be in the
hearts of audience members.
Other moments from anoth-
er show also lingered. During
"Alice," at the frenetic dinner
party with the Dormouse, the
Mad Hatter and the March
Hare, the characters poured
tea, using sand in the teapot.
Besides reducing any possibil-
ity of a spill, it was a unique
visual for audiences. Their
combined crying scene when
Alice sends them scurrying
away was great fun, inverse to
the degree of their weepiness
(the more they cried and car-

tried on, the funnier it got!).
Because most of "Alice"
was designed and directed by
high school students, there
were moments when one
wondered if the show would
hold together. However, true
to their ability, they pulled it
off with excellent cooperation
and some moxie.
The best overall all ad lib,
however, was from actor
Greige Lott, as "Alice" author
Lewis Carroll and narrator,
when during a scene change
he offered, with appropriate
whimsy: "A Buddhist went up
to a street hog dog vendor and
said 'make me one with every-
thing.'" Ah, youth!
Don't forget that Camden
Summer Theatre still has spots
(insert laughter here!) for stu-
dents in its 2007 summer the-
atre program.
Students ages 8 to 10 can
register for "101 Dalmations"
and 11-15 year-olds can sign
up for "Aladdin." Both pro-
grams culminate in musi-
cal theatre performances
and will be conducted at
the CCHS Auditorium dur-
ing June. Interested parents
and students can contact the

NEX gives Kings Bay's barbershop a facelift

By MCSN Dmitry
Chepusov
Periscope staff
S ile the past sev-
feral years have seen
Many Navy services
get handed over to indepen-
dent contractors, the Navy
Exchange recently went in the
opposite direction, bettering
its service and saving money
in the process. Across the
nation's Navy bases, the NEX
has assimilated previously
indirect-run barbershops by
not renewing contracts with
barber companies. NSB Kings
Bay's Navy Exchange recent-
ly broke ties with a company
operating out of California and
gave the barbershop a facelift
as a result.
"We made the decision to
have the barber shops run
directly by the NEX to provide
more uniform services;'," said
Services Operations Specialist
Luis Schelp of NEXCOM.
"Because we are running the
barber shops directly, we can
monitor all operations and
ensure that the standards we
want met are met with consis-
tency and with a higher stan-
dard."
Not only has the Kings Bay
Navy Exchange extended its
customer service perks to its
barber shop patrons, it has
also effected the benefits of the
barbers. Whereas before, an
independent company deter-
mined barbershop employees'
pay, now all employees receive
Department of Defense ben-
efits.
"I think that it offers bet-
ter opportunities for us;'," said
Lead Barber Denise Florence.
"The Navy Exchange general
manager has been a tremen-
dous help ensuring that we
have a smooth transition from

working for a contractor to
working for the NEX, and they
have welcomed us with open
arms."
Since the change, there
are many ways in which the
barbershop has become an
overall smoother operation.
According to Florence, in case
she needs a day off she can
be filled in for by the Navy
Exchange beautician, who has
similar training and would be
more than willing to come into
the barber shop as a lead bar-
ber temporarily.
Upon entering the barber-
shop, patrons will notice a few
large military photographs on
the walls taken by Kings Bay
photographers.
According to the NEX man-
agement, these photos are
meant to relate more closely
to servicemembers than the
lifeless black and white photo-
graphs of boats at sea, some of
which no longer even operate
out of Kings Bay.
"The new photos are a
great touch," said Pfc. Daniel
Spencer of Marine Corps
Security Force Company after
he received his bi-monthly
haircut. "They help build a
more pleasant barbershop
atmosphere. I also think that
the various hair products
offered here in the stands are
also a good idea. The Navy
Exchange can now extend its
lower priced products into the
barber shop, while giving us
better customer service."
Besides having a cozier
environment with happier
employees, the Kings Bay
Barber Shop also offers an

The Kings Bay Barbershop was recently put under the direct control of the Navy Exchange, offering employees and patrons a
slew of benefits and a better barbershop environment. "Now only can our customers save money by buying NEX hair products
within the barbershop, but we can also have more direct control over our barbers and their working hours," said NEX General
Manager Dawn DeWyke. "Our goal is to support the Sailors and Marines with great customer service so that they can better
accomplish their missions."

"If we had a staffing issue,
I would have to call the con-
tractor and have them deal
with it, but now I can handle

it myself," said NEX General
Manager Dawn DeWyke. "The
same can be applied to work-
ing hours. If, for example, a

submarine pulls in at noon open in support of the Navy's
and all the Sailors aboard will mission. That, after all, is what
need a haircut that evening, I the exchange is ultimately here
can have the barbershop stay for."

Sea Cadets land at NSB Kings Bay

By MCSN Dmitry Chepusov

As school ended and summer began, the past three weeks
have brought several groups of aspiring young military
disciples to NSB Kings Bay to hone their marching skills,
among other things. Wearing the familiar utilities as they march
around base, the Sea Cadets attended submarine school, which
proved to be a memorable experience for these young adults.
"The focus of the Naval Sea Cadet program is to put these boys
and girls on the deck plates," said Commanding Officer, Training
Contingent Lt. Thomas Meyer, who is in charge of the Sea Cadet
Submarine and Master-at-Arms schools held at Kings Bay this
summer. "The Naval Education and Training Command helped
organize some basic training for the cadets that is very similar
to training we get in the real Navy. The sub-school training they
have been getting here is known as their advanced training,
similar to the Navy's A-school."
Just like in the real Navy, the Sea Cadets spent many hours
studying everything they could about submarines in one of the
classrooms at Trident Training Facility. Here, the cadets also
used many of the building's training modules to enhance their
understanding of submarines.

They were taught to drive submarines, demonstrating their
skills in the "Dive and Drive," a hydraulically maneuverable
square room designed to tilt and pitch as if it were a real sub-
marine. They were also taught basic surface navigation and the
importance of clear communication in the VESUB a virtual
reality submarine designed to teach future commanding offi-
cers to control their submarines and to navigate in unfamiliar
waters.
"Essentially it is a condensed two-week version on the Navy's
Enlisted Basic Submarine School, and TTF is absolutely critical
to the success of that training," said Meyer. "The cadets learned
everything from basic submarine construction to all the major
systems that make the submarine function. We also had them
take advantage of the virtual shooting range, which the Marines
keep at TTF and share with the Navy."
At the completion of their submarine school, the Sea Cadets
visited the USS Maryland (SSBN738) for a tour and were lucky to
stay aboard for lunch as well.
Following the privilege of dining with the crew, the cadets
took an elevator ride down the shaft of one of the boat's missile
tubes. Needless to say, these experiences are once in a lifetime
events for many of the cadets.
"These kids are very capable and every one of them wants to

be here," said Sea Cadet Coordinator BMC(SW/AW) Eric Frank,
who works at base security, but volunteers his free time to work
with the cadets.
"The Sea Cadet Corps is an all volunteer organization; these
kids always put 110 percent into everything they do and we treat
them accordingly."
At the conclusion of each day, the cadets enjoyed evening
liberty just like Sailors at Kings Bay. They often visited the
dance machines next to the Rocky Colletti kitchen and bowled
at the Rack 'n' Roll Lanes. They also visited Oscar's to play video
games and watch movies. However, they also had a mandatory
study period every evening, during which they read educational
books and watched films about the Navy.
"Being a Sea Cadet gives these kids a sense of purpose, teach-
es them responsibility and the importance of the work done by
the Navy," said retired ATCS Charles Holland, who is in charge
of the Sea Cadet Submarine School group. "Being 14 through
16, they still want to be kids and have fun with a lot of what they
are exposed to, but they still learn the importance of listening to
directions, giving a verbal response and then carrying out their
tasks."
For more information about joining or volunteering for the
Sea Cadets, visit their Web site at www.seacadets.org.

(Above) The VESUB, otherwise known as the virtual reality
submarine navigation simulator, gave the Sea Cadets many
hours of practice in basic navigation commands and proce-
dures. One fifteen-year-old cadet gave the all-ahead one-third
order to move the boat from the Kings Bay waterfront into
the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, while the voice recognition
software sent the right orders to the virtual crew below deck
and replied "Aye-aye" with a synthetic voice.

Sea Cadets also practiced their shooting skills at the virtual firing range located inside Trident
Training Facility. This range was bought for the Marine Corps, however, having no space to set
it up, the Marines agreed to share it with the Navy and even local law enforcement in exchange
for the space in TTF. This virtual shooting range is the most advanced of its kind, with almost
limitless possibilities of weapons and scenarios.

needs based scholarships and interest free loans for educa-
tional purposes. According to Tate, the NMCRS should be the
first resource, not the last resort.
"I give as many briefs as I can physically do to get the word
out about the benefits we offer," she said. "If people are in need
they should come to us first. I try to stress our organization and
the problems we can help with to hopefully steer people away
from the payday loan trap."
Although the NMCRS is there to provide emergency funds
for people who need financial help, they do not just cut people
a check and send them on their way. Loan personnel sit people
down and perform a budget to make sure people are living
within their means. According to Tate, people who come to the
office get financial support and money-management education

the fund drive is to get the word out to Sailors

at the same time.
"This is an opportunity for people to learn to balance what
money is coming in and what is going out;" she said. "Life
throws us a lot of curves, we are here to help people cope with
the challenges of situations that just sometimes happen for no
reason."'
Although it takes many people to make the NMCRS fund
drive successful, the goal of the fund drive is to get the word out
to everyone that they need to support their fellow servicemem-
bers.
"Our goal was to make 100 percent contact and give every-
one the opportunity to contribute," said Military NMCRS
Coordinator SKC(SS) Leonardo Holland.
"We want to help out our fellow Sailors and Marines who
have come across hard times and get them the financial support

they need."
The NMCRS has only two paid positions. Most of the loan
personnel volunteer their time because they have used assis-
tance from the society in the past. According to Tate, it is a way
to give back.
"The overwhelming reason people volunteer is because they
were in that situation at one time;'," Tate said. "Many of the vol-
unteers know what people are going through and want to help
in any way they can."
For more information or to set up an appointment contact
the NMCRS at 573-3928. According to Tate, they are willing to
help, but you must take the first step.
"We are here to help Sailors and Marines help themselves,"
she said. "Nobody should hesitate to us. If people need help, all
they need to do is ask."

American Revolution and the
early U.S. Navy, medical assis-
tants were assigned at random
out of the ship's company.
They were commonly referred
to as "loblolly boy" a term that
was borrowed from the British
Royal Navy that alluded to the
porridge fed to the sick.
The tradition rich corpsman
has served in every American
battle since 1898. During
World War I, there were 684
personal awards issued to
corpsmen, who distinguished
themselves while serving with
the United States Marines in
numerous battles including
Belleau Wood. In World War
II, hospital corpsmen hit the

beach with the Marines during
every battle in the Pacific. In
one of the most famous photos
ever taken, Pharmacists' Mate
second Class John Bradleywas
among the group of Marines
in the flag raising on Mt.
Suribachi during the battle of
Iwo Jima. According to NSB
Kings Bay Health Clinic Chief
of Operation for Health and
Medicine HMC(FMF) Kenneth
McNeil, without the corpsmen
on the battlefield, the troops
would have a tough time tak-
ing the fight to the enemy.
"We cannot provide the
security for this country with-
out hospital corpsmen putting
their lives on the line every-
day on the battlefield," he said.

"When you are out on patrol,
it is your responsibility to keep
the Marines alive. When they
go down and yell "corpsmen
up," you are running through
the bullets flying at you to get
to them."
The Hospital Corpsmen rate
is the most decorated rate in
the Navy. Throughout history
they have received 22 Medals
of Honor, 174 Navy Crosses, 31
Distinguished Service Medals,
946 Silver Stars and 1,582
Bronze Stars.
Those serving on the battle-
ground go through the Field

Briefly Speaking

Continued from Page 2

Troops to Teachers
The Georgia Troops to Teachers Program provides eli-
gible servicemembers up to $10,000 to become public
school teachers. The next Troops to Teachers brief will be
June 25 at the Navy College Learning Center. Under the
Spouse to Teachers Programs, eligible military spouses
may be reimbursed for the cost of state required certifica-
tion tests up to a total of $600.

Mail policy
If you live in the barracks, do not use your building and
room number as your address. Mail is not delivered to
the barracks. Using your command address will speed up
delivery of your mail and prevent delay. If you are assigned
to NSB Kings Bay, please include your work center in your
address. For civilians receiving official/job related mail
through the NSB Kings Bay Mailroom, include your com-
mand and work center in your address.

Have you completed your PHA?
All active-duty personnel require a Preventive Health
Assessment annually. The assessment must be complete
within the past 12 months in order to participate in the
semi-annual command fitness assessment or the reme-
dial fitness program. A PHA consists of a one-on-one
review of your health record and health status with a Naval
Branch Halth Clinic corpsman. This includes updating
your record for deployment. A PHA is not the same as
a medical screening for the CFA, which must be done
separately. PHAs should be scheduled in the same month
as your birthday. Call Military Medicine at 573-8801 to
schedule a PHA.

Protect your base identification
Operational Security is the responsibility of all hands.
Controlling access to the base is one of the most important
roles of our security force as they provide a safe and secure
environment for all of us. Control of your issued base
access badge is a critical component of controlling base
access. Do not leave your badge unattended, especially in
your vehicle, the gym locker room, or other places where
it could be stolen.

Navy Lodge Kings Bay
Navy Lodge Kings Bay offers all the modern conve-
niences and amenities guests expect in a hotel room. Navy
Lodges feature oversized rooms with free coffee, free local
and 800 phone calls, free newspaper, cable TV with HBO,
fully equipped kitchens with microwaves, hair dryers, and
video rental. Call 882-6868 today to make your reservation.
To make a reservation at another Navy Lodge or to receive
a Navy Lodge directory, call 1-800-NAVY-INN, 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week or through our web site at www.navy-
lodge.com.

Help NMCRS help others
Now, more than ever, you can help at Navy-Marine
Corps Relief Society. Death or serious illness in the imme-
diate family, rent/mortgage, utilities, food, car repair, car
payment, insurance, dental, medical ... you can make a
difference in the life of a fellow servicemember. You can
provide them with the funds, education and tools to find
solutions to their emergency needs. Call 573-3928 today.

Give us your suggestions for improving Periscope
Do you see an event on base you think deserves cover-
age in the Periscope? Let us know by calling editor Mike
England at 573-4719 or sending e-mail to periscopekb@
yahoo.com.
