GAINESVILLE, March ---General James A. Van Fleet, center, football

coach and student at the University of Florida in the 1920's, was

back on the University of Florida campus today (3/21), this time

to accept appointment as honorary chairman of the University of

Florida Alumni Association Loyalty Fund. Gen. Van Fleet, shown

with University President J. Wayne Reitz, and Byron Herlong,

newly-named chairman of the Alumni Association's Loyalty Fund,

arrived from Athens, Greece this week. Both were named to their

posts at today's annual spring meeting of the Association.
