The structure designated as Roeque 46 was an L-shaped building.
The north wall of that part of the building that was tangent with the
street beoame the "south wall of the rear wing that extended north-
ward. This wall was located in a passageway between the Tucker
Photographic shop and the Parks Hotel. The opening was 5.50 feet
wide.

The wall was 1.30 feet thick and its total lenght was 62.40 feet.
From the existing street curb there was a course of mortar covered
coquina block that extended 15.30 feet westward. This section of the
wall butted into the remains of an inside fireplace which had a total
width of 9.50 feet. From the west side of the fireplace the wall foot-
ing was discontinuous since in many places intrusive pits occurred.

At 38.20 feet from the front of Rocque 46 a wall trench ran at
a right angle to the east-west wall. (This probably was the east wall
of the wing since the trench occurred at a point that coincided in dis-
tance with Rooque's measurement). From this wall trench to its west-
ward termination was 24.20 feet. At this point a corner was found with
the west wall of the wing butting into the south wall.

In order to find the southeast corner of the part of the building
that was tangent to the street the sidewalk in front of the. Tucker
Photographic Shop was penetrated. The corner was found and showed that
the outside dimensions of this house was 15.40 feet.

PARKS HOTEL:

Sections of the sidewalk in front of the Parks Hotel were removed and
the foundations for a cequina building were discovered. The first course
of coquina above the footing was 1.80 feet thick. The shell footing
itself extended down 2.50 feet below the first course. A wall of such
dimensions was indicative of a large two story building. The front room of
this building had north-south inside dimensions of 18.00 feet. To the
south of this room there was an "enclosed" area that may have been a loggia
7.40 feet wide. The front north-south wall extended further south 4.60
feet. This may have been part of a step-down garden wall.

Rocque indidated, at the time he drew his map, that the structure
that was located in this area was a wooden building. It appears that
the Rocque Building, which has its front proportions about the same as
the coquina structure was built on the foundation of the excavated
building.

SOUTHEAST CORNER ST. GEORGE STREET AMD FORT LANE:

A shell wall 17.80 feet south of the Fort Lane curb was located.
In the area excavated a tabby floor in good condition was present to
the north of the 1.40 foot wide shell wall. This tabby was penetrated
in one area.
