NATIONAL QUADRICENTENNIAL COMMISSION
ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA

February 16, 1965
The Honorable D. a, Matthews
House of Representatives
Congress of the United States
Washington, D. C.
Uear Billy:
I must aclin postpone my visit to Washington.
We are atteamting to bring to a oonolusion the final
negotiations for the contracts for the Spanish Exhibi-
tion Building, andthis and other matters would in-dcate
a desirability for me to go to Madrid the end of this
week. Preop.rtione for this would make t it possible
for me to come to Washington this week, but I will en-
deavor to stop there on my way back, probably the middle
of the week of March 8th. I will telephone from Nsw
York or write from *rdrid when my return schedule is
confirmed.
I aporeciate very much your willingness to re-
view the matters with G. S. A., which I agree should be
done with you and Senator Holland before any talks with
General Administrator Knott.
In the meantime, we would appreciate anything
you can do with the Post Office to urge them to permit
us to confer on the matter of the design and wording
of the stamp.
Cordially,
Earle W. Newton
Director General
00.: senatorr Holland
