POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT
OFFICE OF THE GENERAL COUNSEL
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20260
November 27, 1963
Mr. Earle W. Newton
Director-General (Acting)
National Quadricentennial Commission
St. Augustine Restoration, Inc.
46 St. George Street
St. Augustine, Florida
Dear Mr. Newton:
Reference is made to previous correspondence concerning the
need for the Post Office Department to vacate its present
facilities in St. Augustine.
The Post Office Department has approved a project for leasing
space for postal purposes at St. Augustine. Regional officials
have been requested to proceed with the case as quickly as
possible with a view toward vacating the present Federal build-
ing as soon as possible after July 1, 1964. Correspondence
with Regional officials should be addressed to Mr. C. B. Gladden,
Regional Director, Post Office Department, Atlanta, Georgia.
30304.
General Services Administration officials have been informed
of the Post Office Department's intention to vacate the present
Federal building in favor of the leased quarters to be obtained.
Since the General Services Administration has jurisdiction over
the present Federal building, it is suggested that you contact
them in regard to acquisition of the property, if you have not
already done so.
Sincerely,
Tyler Abell
Associate General Counsel
