I have received word from Mr.Earle W.Newton, Director-General(Acting),
National Quadricentennial Commission in Saint Augustine, Florida, that
Mr.Tyler Abell, Associate General Counsel of the Post Office Department,
Washington,D.C. has advised him that the Pest Office Department has
decided that the Saint Augustine pest office has a need for larger
quarters, and it is the Post Office Department's intention to vacate
the present building when suitable quarters are obtained.
Mr.Able advised Mr.Newton to contact you in respect to the Post Office
Departments plans for the future of the Saint Augustine post office.
The National Quadricertennial Commission is in hopes of having the
present building for administrative offices and as a museum to house
exhibits of United States in connection with the 400th Anniversary
of the founding of Saint Augustine in 1965.
A time element is involved in that the Commis-ion has a desire to
occupy this building before 1965. I would like to know what procedures
and schedules have been set up to provide us with new quarters.I
would assume that the new building would be a leased building and it
would take considerable time before such a building could be negotiated
and completed.
Please advise when the Regional Office plans to take action on this
proposed project.
Very truly yours,
George W.Bispett

Saint Augustine, Florida
