Dear Mrs. Wiles:

Your letter of October 24 asked for reproductions of correspondence between
Robert Mills and Elias Wallen, the contractor for the repair of the old
court house or Governor's house in St. Augustine.

We regret to report that searches for the correspondence and the drawings
were negative. Records searched included fiscal accounts among United
States General Accounting Office records, files of the House of Represen-
tatives, and records of the Public Buildings Service. We understand that
the Public Buildings Service may have plans and specifications of the old
St. Augustine Court House. 'We are therefore referring your letter to
Office of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Service, General Services
Administration, Washington 25, D. C. Attention: Mr. Arthur E. Swain.

An examination of The Guide to Archives and Manuscripts in the United States
(compiled for the National Tistorical Publications Commission and published
earlier this year by the Yale University Press) showed that there are Robert
Mills manuscripts in the Library of Congress, Washington 25, D. C. and in
the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana.
If you have not already done so, you may wish to write to these institutions.
