RESOLUTI ON



WHEREAS, the St. Augustine Historical Preservation and Restora-

tion Association desires to undertake the preservation and restoration of

the Llambias House and expend some of the funds appropriated by the State

of Florida for the preservation and restoration of historical sites and

landmarks, and

WHEREAS, the Llambias House in its present condition is not in

a physical condition to be used for any of the purposes for which it was

given in trust to the City of St. Augustine, and the Trustees of said

house have determined that it is to and for the best interest of the

Trust that the St. Augustine Historical Preservation and Restoration

Association be given the permission and authority to proceed with the

work of preservation and restoration which will probably require the

removal of the south wing attached to the house, which is relatively

a modern addition;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the

Llambias House that the St. Augustine Historical Preservation and Restora-

tion Associa sion be, and it is hereby given the permission and authority

to proceed with the preservation and restoration of the Llambias House,

restore the gardens, and erect any appropriate outbuildings required by

such restoration, under the supervision of a competent historical architect,

such permission and authority to include the right to remove the south

wing attached to the said house if it is determined that the preservation

and restoration of the original house requires such removal;

PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that the preservation and restoration of said

house be done in such manner as will preserve the antique character of the

house and be accomplished in the most economical manner possible, and with

the understanding that all costs and expenses of such preservation shall

be assumed and paid by the St. Augustine Historical Preservation and Resto-

ration Association, and

PROVIDED FURTHER, that the St. Augustine Historical Preservation

and Restoration Association will fully protect and save harmless from any

and all liability in connection with such work, the Trustees of the Llambias

House, and the City of St. Augustine, and to this end will take out necessary

insurance to protect the Association, the Trustees an4 the City.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that as and when such preservation and

restoration work has been completed, the Trustees of the Llambias House

will then consider and be willing to give to the St. Augustine Historical

Society and Institute of Science, a long term lease on the said Llambias

House and grounds, with suitable provisions and conditions for its con-

tinuous maintenance, upkeep, needs and use in accordance with the terms

and conditions for the purposes as set forth in the Deed of Trust to the

City of St. Augustine.

PROVIDED FURTHER, that a member of the Board of Trustees of the

Llambias House appointed by the Chairman of said Board of Trustees, be

permitted to attend all meetings of the St. Augustine Historical Preserva-

tion and Restoration Association, or any committee appointed by said Asso-

ciation, in connection with the restoration and preservation of the Llambias

House, where any plans, specifications, and expenditures relating to the

Llambias House are considered or approved, such representative of the Board

of Trustees to have a voice and vote in all such meetings.






The following is to be inserted at the bottom of Page 1,

after the words, "requires such removal":

"Provided, however, that the preservation and restoration

of said house be done in such manner as will preserve the antique

character of the house and eee accomplish in the most economical

manner possible".

The following paragraph is to be added to the conclusion of

the original Resolution:

"Provided further that a member of the Board of Trustees

of the Llambias House appointed by the Chairman of said Board

of Trustees, be permitted to attend all meetings of the St. Augus-

tine Ristorical Preservation and Restoration Association, or any

committee appointed by said Association, in connection with the

restoration and preservation of the Llambias House, *t..he-
