Note: It might be well to explain here that Juan Aguilar, the
occupant of the house, was the father in law of Juan Rodriguez, the purchaser.

St. Augustine December 23, 1803. This day was issued by this government
title of possession and ownership in perpetuity of the above house and lot in
favor of Don Juan Rodriguez, in virtue of the Royal cedula of 17 June 1801, remit-
ting to those in debt for quitrents, the payment of the capital and rents for the
houses and lots they acquired when restored to the Royal domain. (Also Escrituras

Bernardo Segui to Pedro Minanda, with power of attorney (or executor
of) Dona Francisca de Aguilar, a house of stone covered with tile, bounded east
by St. George St., west by the marsh, north by heirs of Francisco Arnau, south
by lot of Don Bartolome de Castro y Ferriera, i-ranted bo Juan Aodriguez
December 23, 1803.

Note: According to Mrs. Barnes genealogy in our files, Bernardo Segui
married Dionicia Rodriguez, the daughter of Don Juan Rodriguez and Dona Francisca
de Aguilar. The above deed then was made for property of his wife's parents.
I have not been able to find any deed or transfer from Pedro Miranda, nor is it
clear what transfers may have been made of this property, until May 5, 1883, when
iaria de Jesus Rodriguez de Segui, widow of John Segui, son of Don Barnardo
Segui, for herself and as guardian for her child Maria Josefa, gave a quit claim
deed to Holmes Ammidown, consideration '183.0 all undivided right, title and
interest which they had or may have had in the estate of Bernardo Segui and
Dionicia Segui, devised through John Segui. The deed intended to convey the
interest in both estates of Bernardo and John in a certain house and lot sold in
St. Augustine, Florida to Holmes Ammidown, now deceased, described as: South
by lot of A. C. Spear, west by i1aria Sanchez (reek, east by St. George St., north
by premises of Holmes Ammidown. This estate being known as the old Segui House.

On archh 23, 1935, Henry Philip Ar-midown and Beatrice II. his wife,
sold to Amey H. ,ac,~illan the north 70 feet of the east 90 feet of Lot 3 Block 36
Recorded in Book 107 page 247 St. Johns County records.

I am somewhat at a loss regarding the Segui deed to Pedro Miranda in
1822 because in 1834 the Clements survey lists the previous owner as John o'riguez
and the present owner as the heirs of John Rodriguez. The genealogical notes
explain how Bernardo Segui could have been an heir of Rodriguez but not how they
got the property back after it had been sold to Miranda.
