Mr. Davis sa I have just conferred ea the matters
you Inquired about and have ome to the following con-
Olusions.
The garage Is totally Itpossible to remodel
for a residence. It is all eaten up by tr-
aites and is a mixture of ooquina and wood.
It Is too small to be practicably converted
into ssable residential purposes. It would
need a new reef. Ta other words, you could
build something new at no etra cost. Bat
since new building is nore costly, we we would
still reoemend the purease of one of the
buildings in the rear, which would kill two
birds with one stone. It would give you the
space for a caretaker, and would also acquire
that property which is ultimately needed for
protection of the' Patio bouse.
Be thinks that it would cost about 1150-200 to do
the counter and shelves In the store. The main oest
would be assembling the merchandise, which Is very hard
to get for the period around 1800. This is a problem
not for a contractor but for an antiques dealer. You
might like to talk with Fred Green who assembled the
moerehualse for the Old Store In St. Augustine. Bat
his problem revolved around 1900 rather than 1800, and
Was moeh easier.
