MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board
and
Florida Medical Association
In order to define the areas of responsibility of the Historic
St. Augustine Preservation Board and the Florida Medical Association
in the creation and operation of a cooperative educational exhibit known
as the Museum of Florida Medical History, the two organizations have
entered into the following memorandum of agreement.
1. It is the desire of both organizations to cooperate
in the creation for the public of an educational
exhibit portraying the rich and significant medical
history of the State of Florida.
2. The Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board
agrees to:
a. Make the second floor of the building known
as the Spanish Military Hospital on Aviles
Street in St. Augustine available for the
exhibits.
b. Provide necessary utilities and structural
maintenance.
c. Provide planning of the exhibits.
d. Include the museum in the routine duties of
its Curator for the installation and care of
the exhibits.
e. Exercise due concern for the security of the
exhibit.
3. The Florida Medical Association agrees to:
a. Continue to raise funds for the expansion and
completion of the exhibits and exhibit facilities
in accord with an approved museum plan.
b. Cooperate in publicizing the Museum of Florida '
'Medical History.
4. Fun4 i which are made available by or through the Florida
Medical Association for these purposes will be disbursed
and accounted for through St. Augustine Reptoration, Inc.
5. Exhibits and exhibit facilities procured with funds made
availJe by or through the Florida Medicalk'Association
will ;enain the property of the Associatioa iand will be
placed pn loan to the Historic St. Augustipj Preservation
Boar ,
6. It is mutually agreed that the building in which the Museum
of Florida Medical History is located may be placed on the
block admission ticket of the Historic St. Augustine Pre-
servation Board in order to partially meet the expenses
of operation and maintenance.
7. It is further agreed that in the event that it becomes
necessary to cease using the Spanish Military Hospital on
Aviles Street for exhibit purposes, the Historic St. Augus-
tine Preservation Board will attempt to provide suitable
alternate quarters for the exhibits of the Museum of
Florida Medical History. In the event of the dissolution
of the museum the Florida Medical Association will have
full authority to recall the items loaned to the Historic St.
Augustine Preservation Board.
