To be informed by the Majrr Engenear (Sg.) dhite.
The map of the city that shows that for the formation of the Main Plasa
should continue the line of the house where lived Captain of the
Grenadiers, Don Gines Oliva, following to toe E. until reaching the
line of the street in which lives Un. Francisco Fatio, remaining by this
Mean, after toe houses had been built, forming the front of the Plasa that
Faces the S. and as the lot solicited by the supplicant has enough exten-
. sion to build two h u'se. building one in the following of the line of the
street of the Hos ital riving its widest front to the Plaza, and another to
the end that join. witn 'J e street of Un. Francisco Fatio, in the same way
with its widest front at tne same place will eautify much more than if
would only one be built anmi tne rest -f the lot would be fenced.
,0M #Ad If you think to give this lot it would result in some day that if the
room that serves ae the entrance of the commisary, which door is at the N.
of the buildii.~ it woulo be necessary to open another corresnonding to the
street of the Hospital and to close the one that is open today causing an
inconvenience as tne floor of the nouse where the pharmacy is higher than
/ the level of the street, they can 'not make a door corresponding to this
without forming a grade of three or four steps that would facilitate the
going up and in tne case of doing it the street would be with this, imper-
fection and oerhaos it would be a other to the going of carriages because
the street iq t~oc arrow ir this ;-vet.
In order to .ake care of ary wrong doing ard to save row the cost of
opening new doors to these offices, .t could orovisionally be left between
..,NJK ->- them and rhe lot a street four -r five varas wide a-ri by ,ris means open
the oass for commnun i-at or, with then ana verified the establishment of the
V4 ^ HKospital on a place nore rct red from the center of te city the land that
0 r/A forms the provisional street clo'o be united to the rest Piven to the
supplicant, what is as I may form, e0c. etc.

No.'76 To t1e Uvernor
Dn. Antonio Matanzas, graduate captain and only assistant of this Presidio
with function of Sargento Mayor with much respect makes present to Your
Lordship that he finds himself in need of a lot to build a house where to
live and having news that the one between the Plaza and the rooms of the ?
PHarmacy and the accountant for the Hospital is going to be given, I ask for
it although it be a half in case it could not be the whole.
Favor that I hope to have from tne known Justice of Your Lordship.
St. Augustine, Oct. 1st, 1798.
The lot, on which to build a house, solicited from Your Lordship by
Captain Mayor Assistant of this Presidio, Dn. Antonio Matanzas, was given
by your Lordshin by Decree of 26 of the last month (Sept.' to Dn. Thomas
Traver and in the writing last presented to youi Lordship asking for it and
was given the Decree of Your Lordship to be informed, I made it saying that
for the formation of the Plaza must be continued the line of the house' where
lives Captain of the Grenadiers, Dn. Gines Oliva, following to the beAch
to join the line of the street where Dn. Francisco Fatio lives, saying as
well that instead of one house as Traver nad proposed to build would be built
two in order to give the lot enough extension building one following the v
line of the street of the Hospital giving its widest front to the Plaza and
building the other to the end that joins with the street of Fatio; and as
the other, with its widest froAt to the Plaza with the end to avoid fences
that in any way contribute to its beautifying,' adding what I thought properly,
t make a provisional street to the back to give communication to the
- -- new doors for these offices. That this is'what I can inform Your Lordship
P/34g~aa y to fulfill your oriof order in order to serve your Lordship to determine
/ what would be pleased you. St. augustine, 'ct. 1, 1798
