RE: Avero House & Joanada House Restoration, St. Augustine, Fla.
Dear Susan:
In accordance with our meeting Tuesday, enclosed please find a copy of the
Preliminary Report for the Avero House. Please note that the outline I gave
you Tuesday supersedes the Report.

For the record, the following is a summary of our meeting on January 28:

1. The Avero House. Your participation in the restoration of the Avero House
will consist of:

(a) Field checking the HABS drawings and correcting certain dimensional
discrepancies and configurations.

(b) Field measuring the attic space and recording the existing joist
and rafter spacing and other relevant information that would be of help in
preparing restoration drawings.

(c) Work with Ted Pappas and myself in a manner agreeable to all parties
during the preparation of restoration drawings. I believe we are agreed that
any attempt for you or Phil to prepare actual working drawings might result
in frustrations for all. However, you assistance can be most valuable in a
research capacity, and it may be possible for you to plan to stay in either my
office or Ted's office one day a week while the project is being prepared.

2. Joanada House. Your participation in the restoration of the Joanada House
will consist of:

(a) Accurately recording the existing structure by field measuring and
drawing as required. The drawings should be more detailed than HABS normal
requirements.

(b) Aid in research and perhaps visit my office one day a week as noted
for the Avero House.

I look forward to working with you and Phil .-. believe. g .t deal can be
accomplished in the next few months. See yc. .ext Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at
the Avero House.
Best regards,

Herschel E. Shepard.
