Dear Friends:
I may have to go back to Mount Sinai for further surgery and
I would like very much to "square things away" in St. Augustine before I go.
You know, Charlie said "Mother, you can't die, only the good die young, and
you are old and fiesty". Well, Maybe the good Lord won't think I am so
fiesty this time.
Saturday, the 6th, and Sunday, the 7th, my grandson and his
friends will remove my blocks from my former property. John Griffin and Bob
say the architect, Herschel Shepard, says they are no good for further use,
and I would have to remove them.
The blocks mean something to me. Bill designed the house,
and started it. It was never the boys' intention to give the entire property to
the State. They wanted me and my descendants to have a piece of St. Augus-
tine forever. I regret bitterly that I had to give away the. entire lot that Bill
wanted me to enjoy. I had to do this because there was no other way to
finance the restoration of the Montgomery Sisters' house.
I have been waiting every day to hear from John and Bob regard-
ing the permits from Washington also, Bob promised weeks ago to send me
the plan of the landscaping of the garden.
Bill' s intention was that I would live in the house he was
building for me while we restored the old house. You, dear friends, have
made it possible for me to have the darling home in St. Augustine, and I
do appreciate it with all my heart. The last time I was over the air con-

ditioner acted up. Bill Rolleston, I would be happy to pay for the repair. Mr.
Reyes came and helped the two old ladies.
There is a clause about the fence on the St. George Street prop-
erty that Bill included in the deal. I really don't think we should move that
beautiful old fence but we can "square that away" later.
Hopefully, I will see you on the 18th.
God Bless.
