30()' 4 EXPLANATION
QUATERNARY
Qh Holocene sediments consisting of quartz sand with minor
amounts of organic matter and clay associated with lagoonal
deposits. Mostly beach and dune sands along present
coastline.

Qal Alluvium deposited in the river flood plains. Quartz sands,

units. Very fine to coarse grained.
Qu Undifferentiated quartz sands. May consist in part of
reworked Citronelle. Fine to coarse grained with varying
percentages of silt and clay.
TERTIARY
Th Hawthorn Group. Sandy clays, silt, occasional carbonates.
May locally contain phosphate.
Tic Intracoastal F.
sand and clay.
phosphatic
TJb Jackson Bluff Formation. Variably sandy clay often with
abundant fossils, greenish gray to light olive green.

Ts Suwannee Limestone. Marine limestone, fossiliferous, varies
from poorly recrystallized to well recrystallized,
packstone to grainstone. Minor siliciclastic component.
Tsmk St. Marks Formation. Marine limestone, white to tan, often
sandy, fossiliferous with abundant mollusk molds, moldic,
varies from wackestone to packstone, more muddy than Ts.
