The decision to withdraw this pr ov isi o n wh e n t h e UD P has the m ajority v otes to pass it , was, in m y opinion , not a wise one. The PU P has always been a part y that de l i v ers wh a te v er their people want despite the o p p o s i t i o n c omi n g f r om o t h er quarters. I f the UDP had passed that le g islation , Belizean Am ericans w o u l d h a v e c on s o l i d a t e d t h e ir support for th e m indefinitel y. N o w t h at t hey ha v e fa i led to d e l iv e r t h i s p r o mi s e , B el i z e an Am ericans m i g ht start to think that both the UDP and the PUP are the sa m e when it co m es to a d d r e s si ng t he c o nc e r n s of B e l i ze a ns l i v i n g i n th e U n i t ed S tates and elsewhere. O v er t he y ear s , B e liz e an poli t icians , f ro m both m ajor politi c al parties , h a v e been v isitin g the United S tates during electi o n ti m e m a k in g lots of p r o m i s es b ut ha ve fa i led in deli v erin g the m. Most Belizeans possess dual citizenships as is spelled out in t h e B e l i z e c o n s t i t u t i o n . In addition , they ha v e played and s t i l l p l a y a v i t a l r o l e i n t he de v elop m ent of their ho m eland. Ho w e v e r , the r e ha s bee n no pro g ra m by the g o v ern m ents of B e l i z e t ha t w i l l be n e f i t a nd e n c o u r age B e l i z e a n s l i v i ng ab r oad t o g e t invol v e d an d do so m e si g nificant thin g s for their countr y. As for th e chan g e t o the Caribbean Court of Justice , the PUP was alway s in support of that chan g e. Belizeans wi t h dual citizenships will not sit down idly by and d rop dead .
