Abstract: |
Original Identification: 50 (Joseph Ewan) Marshallia angustifolia Pursh
51 (Pennell) Agalinis fasciculata (Ell.) Raf.
unnumbered - (Joseph Ewan) Iva microcephala Nutt. Re-determination by Kent Perkins (KP) or J. Richard Abbott (JRA): 50 - Marshallia tenuifolia Raf.; Ewan's name is a misapplied synonym
51 - ! Agalinis fasciculata (Elliott) Raf. (Orobanchaceae, traditionally in Scrophulariaceae); Pennell was THE leading specialist with this group in his day. this specimen is a scrappy fragment, lacking mature open flowers. perhaps careful study of the specimen directly would revise my opinion, but this photo is entirely consistent with the name applied by Pennell, based on specimens in the FLAS herbarium
unnumbered - ! Iva microcephala Nutt. (Asteraceae); this specimen is mounted to the right of the Marshallia, with its stem crossed over by the stem of the Agalinis |
