Abstract: |
Original identification: 4 (Joseph Ewan) Campanula aff. divaricata Michx.
5 (Joseph Ewan) Stachys aff. hyssopifolia Michx. Redetermination: by J. Richard Abbott (JRA) or Kent Perkins (KP) 4 is Campanula floridana S. Watson ex Gray (Campanulaceae), a Florida endemic; Ewan's C. divaricata is a more northern species
5 is Stachys floridana Shuttlew. ex. Benth. (Lamiaceae), based on leaf shape, petiole length, and calyx size; Ewan's S. hyssopifolia, besides having very different leaves, is only found in 3 counties in the central and eastern panhandle, not East Florida as on the label |
