UHIRBAS, men's cruelest eneuobt .or, took the lives
or 10,506 eitizens or this can in 1953, and
HHBRIAS, progress is bell; made in ceneer control;
the death rate along woeen is declining, and anon; nen;
with the exception of lung cancer, the death rate is
levelling off, and
HHBREAS, only by vigorous effort upon the part of the
public, government, nedicine and science can this pro-
gress be continued and cancer brought under control, and
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society is daily saving
lives through its program or reeeerch, education and
service and
HHEREAo. the President or tne United States has
proclained April as a special eonth for a special off-
to conquer cancer,
THEREFORE, I, CHARLEY E. Joan, Acting Governor of
the state or Florida do hereby proclaim the Ionth'of
April as
CANCER CONTROL HOITH
FURTHERMORB, I urge every citizen to not only support
the American Cancer Society crusade by good norks but also
to take advantage or this opportunity to learn as much as
