Honorable Farris Bryant
Governor State of Florida GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
Tallahassee, Florida I TALLAHASSEE, [Loam
Dear Farris:
Recently, an article appeared in the Florida Times Union in
which Charlie Bennett had suggested to the National Boy Scout
organization that the 1964 Jamboree be held in the Jacksonville-
St. Augustine area.
As President of the Narth Florida Council. I certainly would like
to see some action taken toward this event. We have some places
that could take care of the 60,000 boys who would be coming from
all over the United States to this area. I think it would be a wonder-
ful thing, not only from an economic standpoint but also from a pub
licity standpoint and it might be that you would want to have your
good friend, Jarrett, to put his shoulder to the wheel in trying to
secure this convention for the State of Florida.
I would like very much to hear from you with reference to this.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Yours truly.
