that Dr. Blee be officially elected to the Board and this was done immediately.
The minutes of the 1961 meeting were read and approved.
Cut-going Chairman. hrs. hacklin. gave her report for the year and mentioned a
few of the things that had taken place during her four-year term of office: the transfer
of the Foundation from the woman's society to the Board of Education proceeded sl-othly
page 2
until it was finally accomplished in its entirety this year: a new home for the Director
was bought and furnished; and two Associate Directors came during this period and many
improvements were made at the Foundation itself. Nrs. hacklin expressed the thought
that the main need in the future seems to be for closer cooperation between the Board.
Student Council. and Staff of the organisation. She also told how much she had enjoyed
these four years and expressed her appreciation to all who had worked with her and a
special word of thanks to Austin and Becky. The cowplete report is filed herewith.
ht this point the Chairman presented a pair of silver candlesticks to Rev. Cohn
J. Carey. former Chaplain at F.S.U. and now Acting Associate Dean of Students. for his
wonderful help to the Foundation during Austin's illness. He made it possible for the
program to continue during those crucial days.

his friends for all they did for him during his illness. He said he would always be
gsateful for all of their help and prayers.
The new associate Director. lies Nancy Reiss. was introduced to the group. and her
report for the year was given. She said that her work could really be divided into two
parts: the tangible in which she served as program director. guiding the students in
developing leadership while preparing the programs; and the intangible which has to do
with trying to help the students define "what our witness to the University should be".
Supervision of the total facilities was reported as an integral part of the functions of
the Associate Director.
The students from the Foundation spoke next. Jerry Breaking told how much the
hesley Foundation meant to her and Jim Lovill expeessed thanks for the opportunity to
serve and explained a little bit about the program which is carried on in three differen
areas under three vicepresidents. There are ten committees in each area to help carry
on the work.
A report of the Parsonage Connittee was read by the Secretary in the absence of the
Chairman. hrs. L. C. Collins. The Cosmittee had no activity this year as the furnishing
of the Parsonage lad been completed but stated that they did have the satisfaction of
admiring the work of previous years. heport filed herewith.

A report of the Naintenance Camaittee was read next showing that much reupholster-
ing and decorating had been done during the year. The largest expenditure under
maintenance was for termite treatment which came to $522 but it was felt that this was
quite essential at this time and would not he a recurring item. Complete report filed
herewith.
A report of the Coordinating Committee which was prepared by Dr. hyron Blee was
read by Dr. Pugh. lb said that this cosmittee was set up to function in the interim
of Austin's illness and did what it could to help carry on the program during this time
serving as a resource to the staff. Dr. Pugh said that the Committee had fulfilled
its function and now considered itself discharged. Report filed.
The Treasurer's report was given by Hr. Bill Cullom who expressed some concern
about the slowness with which the Educational Specials are coming in. However, hiss
Euealie Gino said the Bishop was encouraging local churches to send these in and felt
that they would be forthcoming. The Treasurer announced that it was necessary to tap
the saving's account to pay for the termite control but felt that this was necessary
at this time. The rest of the budget. particularly the student part. was going well.
Complete report filed herewith.
A report of the Personnel Committee was given next. They reported that they felt
their main accomplishment during the year was the selection of hiss Nancy eiss as
Associate Director. They also recoamended employment and secured a full-time secretary
for the first time as the pressure of work demanded it. The custodian was put on full
time and the maid's work load reduced to two half days a week as it was felt that a man
was needed to do the heavy cleaning around the Foundation. The committee also expressed
their thanks to Chaplain Carey for his help.
Kr. J. D. Iilliaason, Chairman of the Finance Committee presented the budget for
the coming year and he pointed out the following new items of a custodian put on full
time and a fullotime secretary.
Dr. James mowed that these new items be accepted. The motion was seconded by hr.
Hilliamson and carried. The proposed budget carried an item of $300 for Associate
Director's car allowance and hr. Williamson moved that this be changed to $500.00. It
page "
was seconded by Dr. James and the motion carried. As there were no further changes. the
rest of the budget was accepted as read. The complete budget is filed herewith.
Neat. the special conittee on Constitutional Revision. comosed of hiss Frances
Cannon and hiss Sara Lou Hammond. made its report. Each member present was given a
copy of the proposed new constitution and hiss Cannon explained the few minor changes
which were to be made in this. Dr. James moved that the new constitution be adopted.
as amended. This was seconded by hr. Williamson and the motion carried.

Dr. James moved that the report be adopted. it was seconded by hr. Iilliamson and the
motion carried. in addition to the new officers the Nominating Committee presented a
report on nominees for the Board for the coming year as required by various sections of
the new Constitution. The complete list of these names is filed in the report. However
in order to give some of the other hnthodist Churches in the district more representa-
tion on the Board the following people were elected from the floor. each having been
suggested by his pastor:
Mr. Grady Maxwell
hr. Gerald Ballinger
hr. Ben hay
Mrs. A. L. Thompson
It was also decided to let the Nominating Committee select some members from the state-
at-large to work up more interest in this Foundation. Austin Hollady gave a report on
the Alpharetta Leeper Scholarship Fund. The fund now totals Sl.300 and it is hoped thn'
it can be raised lu $6.000. it was decided to write to all alumni of the Foundation to
see if they would like. to help with this Fund.
hrs. Dave Thurman. Conference President. spoke next. She said that even though
the woman's Society had turned over complete control of the Foundation to the Board of
Education that this was not a swan song because they were not "swnnning out". The
channels are simply being changed and that help would always be forthcoming from the
Unmans Society.

is trying to have uniform accounting systems within each of the Foundation budgets in t:
state which should enable us to make more efficient and accurate reports.

land. was introduced to the group along with his lovely wife. He said he was glad to
be present and that he would work hard to learn more about the work of the Foundation
and its needs and nould meet nith us whenever possible.
