PROPOSINO AN ABNDNEhT To SECTION SIX 0? ARTICLE

VIII OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA

RELATING To ELECTION AND TERMS OF COUNTY OFFICERS;

BY ABOLISHING TEE ELECTIVB OFFICE OF COUNTY SUPER-

INTDNDENT 0? PUBLIC INSTRUCTION AND PROVIDING FOR

THE EMPLOYMENT OF A COUNTY SUPENINTENDENT 0P PUB-

LIC INSTRUCTION B! THE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARDS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA:

Section 1. Thst the following smendment to section six
of article VIII of the State Constitution shall he submitted
to the qualified electors of the state for adoption or re-

jection at the general election to he held in November,
195%.

Section 6. Election of county officers; terme.-- The
legislature shall provide for the election by the qualified
electors in each county of the folloving county officers:

A clerk of the circuit court, a sheriff, constshles for such
justice of the pence districts as may be authorized under
the provisions of Article V, Section 213 s county assessor
of taxes, s tax collector and a county surveyor. The term
of office of all county officers mentioned in this section
shall be four years. The legislature shall provide by law
for the core and custody of all county funds and shall pro-
vide the method of reporting and psying out all such funds.

The elective office of county superintendent of public
instruction is hereby abolished and upon the expiration of
the terms of office of those now in office, the seversl
boards of public instruction shall employ s county super-
intendent of public instruction for the sdministration of
