MEMORANDUM FOR MARVIN WATSON
Subject: Our visit to New York Friday. February 10

Governor Rockefeller has made great preparation {or our visit. and
will have all of his top people of both Parties in attendance. One of
the subjects in which he is most interested is urban development.

and he has noted that our participant from HUD is Norman Beckman.

I am sure that Mr. Beckman is quite campetent. but Governor
Rockefeller is unhappy that neither Secretary W eaver. Under Secretary
Wood nor Assistant Secretary Taylor will be in attendance.

I recognize that these gentlemen have other responsibilities. but New
York housing and urban development problems are so large that I
would very much like to have a top man with us in New York.

I have been unable to reach either the Secretary or the Under Secretary

since talking with Governor Rockefeller. and would appreciate your
{chewing through on this for me while I am in Kentucky.

Farris Bryant
