Gear Don:

I had a delightful trip back to Waahlngton iaet
evening thanka to your thoughtful-eel. and enjoyed
in memory the opportunity to be with you Monday.
I am really desolate not to have been present at the

reception but am convinced that in Julia you had at
least 99 Yo of the pleaaure you would have had if
both of ue had been there.

The book enda are beautiful. i like to fancy that

you thought of me ae the Tawn Crier: to bring the
news. to awake the town. Julia ha: not yet relented

but i am hopeful that sooner or later I can have them
in my office.

Pleaae convey to the other gueate at the reception
my appreciation and regret.
