CENTRAL FLORIDA DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

November 22. 1966

Honorable Farris Bryant

Director. Office of Emergency Planning
Apt. 727

2&01 Calvert Street. N.w.

Washington. D.C.

Dear Farris:
Attached is a copy of a letter to Secretary Udall.

It is apparent that the Secretary does not recognize the
importance of Central Florida to the present federal adminis-
tration. A comparison of the results of the recent election
and the 196 election should make this rather obvious.

In addition, the Department of Interior is being widely
criticized in Central Florida. Not only in matters pertaining
to wildlife and conservation, but also the Seashore National
Park, which has been proposed. The National Park Service is
accused of delaying tactics in connection with the proposed
park. If the property is not acquired soon, it will be too
late.

In a recent conversation with Dr. Louis Murray. a member
of the Board of Regents. he indicated that the Board of Regents
would be interested in having Secretary Udall be the Speaker in
the ground breaking ceremony for our new Florida technological
University and that they would attempt to arrange that date to
coincide with our annual meeting so that Mr. Udall could make
two talks in Central Florida, both of which would receive state-
wide coverage. The Board of Regents intends to invite all members
of the cabinet as well as the Governor so that this would be an
opportune time for the national administration to renew
acquaintances with our state officials.

We believe it would be most beneficial to the administration
if Secretary Udall accepted our invitation. We trust that you
will strongly urge him to do so:
