MEMORANDUM TO GOVERNOR BRYANT

SUBJECT: Deputy Appointment

Friday evening (May 12) the Dallas Times Herald
carried an article by Margaret Mayer (washington
Bureau representative) discussing probability that
Governor Price Daniels would be your next deputy.

The writer referred to a conference of the President
with several Governors last week at which the
Governors were supposed to have said that Governor
Peabody would not be popular in the accelerating
State-problems program. They were quoted as
recommending Daniels.

I
Geor M. Grace
