ISIERERrTATlU' OF SENTIHENTAL FEELlGS

America is a complex and christian nation. comprising many

ethnic groups. each allowed to cherish his heritage as he sees
fit.

if the Negro in Florida has a worthwhile heritage. A a h is
the soul of it. And those of us who haVe labored to keep A a M
breathing through its many dilemmas feel as the prophet Nathan
did in his dialigue with King David who had many wives. but
devised a plan to add a wife by taking Uriah's nnr wife. The
plan worked because the king was the power.

The prophet Nathan. whu helieved a mural principle woe
trampled. interrogated King DaVid this way: A rich can had many
flocks and herds of lambs. and a poor man had only "one" little
lamb. which he had nourished as it grew up with his children.
when the rich man had guests. he spared his flocks and herds and
killed for the feast the punr man's "one" little lamb. Speaking
before he realized hn was lhr transgressor. King David said -
KILL TH? MAN

We are not saying kill the man. but we are saying that inte-
gration does not require the dustructiun -l eyery establishment
related tn Negro heritage. But it does mean that we are enter-
ing an era of mutual urapert [or all Americans. tk are saying
that in the Cnnmunwealth of Florida. the Negro. who is not a
eeuber of the Board of Regents. Board at qucatiun. nr Le'ia-
lature. and with limited prnlessinnal opportunities at our other
state uniVursities. has "one" little lamb Florida A t H UniVersity
DON'T KILL IT. LliT lT LlVl-Z.

This does nnt mean that the administration. laculty. and
student body wont be integrated. for that is a must and desired.
He do not belich that rQUI opportunity shnuld he bestowed at
any tine or any place because of race. Thai is. we dnn't believe
that race should pet a porsnn anything or deny hin anything. Tn
give her status would only mean that A h H. historically shOVed
from the main streams of acodeuic excellence. crippled with nea-
ger funds. muzzled with uncertain status. and lashed with chill-
ing criticises. would now have the full blessing of the State to
produce low-abiding and fruitful citizens. who otherwise nay he
left to thenselvea to wandor and raVish soCiety.
