Mr. James I. Kynes
Office of the Governor
Tallahassee, Florida
Dear Jimmy:
Enclosed are copies of the letter, with attached neuoranduns,
which I forwarded to the Board lenbers yesterday. I know this

is a voluminous file, however, I ask you to take a little tine
and read it so you can see how far I have gone to seek harmony
and cooperation rm the other Board timbers.

I also enclose a memorandum on a work session that we held here
in the headquarters in Tampa on Thursday and Friday of last week.
You will note in this report that we net on Thursday afternoon
and Friday morning and later that day in Tallahassee with the
Governor. It was a very beneficial session but I was very dis
appointed that three of our embers were in Tampa but did not see
fit to case to the work session until we were about to adjourn
to go to Tallahassee.

Because of the reluctance of two of the leathers of the Authority
to participate whole heartedly in planning the extension, I ,olt
it was necessary that we have the meeting with War. Theo
Banking Group was obviously aware of this fact because only ,3
Hr. Barnes and myself were at the work session. It is my belief
that without the meeting with the Governor on Friday, we could
never have sold the bonds on the northern extension.

June 22, 1961 Jane. w. Kynes

I would like for you to inform the Governor that I certainly
appreciate his taking time out from his busy schedule to hear
the Bankers Report. The bankers were very impressed with the
attitude of the Governor and you will never know the good this
meeting accomplished.

I trust that in the future, we will have a team effort on
the Turnpike Authority and will move forward with the extension

as expeditiously as possible. I
Very'trsl ours,

I

JOE? H. HAMMER
