Dear Farris:
Ccncarnin; our telephone conversation this norninL, I can't tell you how
batty we are that you have consented to speak to our conference crou}
Tuesday evening, January 11. A dinner party will be held starting at
71H0 F. E. at the drahma Restaurant, and you will be the only speaker of
the evening. The extent of your audress will be left entirely up to you,
but we would suggest twenty to thirty minutes.
In order to assist with the selection of your topic, we are briefly out-
lininr the purpose, participants, etc., of this conference.
To further the er'ram of Fire ServiCe Training in Florida, the Fire College
called together the Chiefs and instructors of all Fire Departments of Flcrida
for a conference during the month of January this year. During the conferenCn
it was decided t: establish an organization to be known as the Florida Fire
Service Trainin. Improvement Jonfcrencc. Committees are appointed for each
unit of trainin: offered to the Fire Service, and these committees review
manuals and naturials used in their respective units. The conference meets
annually and all committees make their reports, recommending any changes or
improvements the" doom advisable. In this way we can best progress and keep
tunnd to the many chan es that are takinr place in this field of service
every year.
Forty seven persons were present at the first meeting last January and we are
antlcipatinx more during this Zonference.
I rrrret that this letter is so lengthy but feel it is necessary to acquaint
you with what we are endeavoring to accomplish.
