honorable c. Farria Bryant,
louse oi Representatives,
Ocala Florida.

near Ir. Bryant:

Supple-eating our letter at Iebreary la in

regard to weighing of trucks. we quote the following
Iron a report anheitted by our Chief oi weight Section:

"In regard to giving truck drivere weighta

on their truck. when they requeet it. the
troopera at the weight atatione have been
doing this when poeeible. The trooper tells
then the weight but doee not give then a
weight ticket unleaa they are overweight.

The reaaon for not giving than a State weight
ticket in that none truck drivera have been
known to put lore weight on their trucks
aiter they have been weighed at our acalee.
we have even had trucha pull onto our wcalea
in the northern part of the atate with a trailer
pulled by a ford or Chevrolet tractor; then
after they are weighed, go on down the high-
way and change the Yard or Chevrolet tractor
tor a lack. Ie have caught two of then do
ing thin. Two weeha ago we had a truck tron
a northern atate which waa overweight on our
ecalea and the truck driver eaid our scale.
was not right, and pulled out a liaeiaaippi
State weight ticket that was such leea than
our ecalee chewed. After our trooper questioned
bin, he adaitted part of bin load was trans
ported acroea lieaieeippi by another truck.

"Several tinea we have had 8 or 6 trucks in
a hunch at the Old Town weight atation (going
north) who wanted the weighta on their trucks.

The reason for their hunching up and wanting
their weight: was to keep the trooper busy

so that an overloaded truck could get by the
scales on a dirt road that runs parallel with
SR 527 about 3/4 of a mile south of the veight

station.

"I will check to make sure that all the
weight Ien are giving the veighte of trucks
when the drivers request it.

Sincerely yours,

3.
Director.
