Honorable Roy Surles
Chairman, Legislative Council
Lakeland, Florida

Dear Mr. Surles:

Submitted herewith is the report of the Council's
Committee on Educational Television, previously
a pointed in pursuance of the mandate of Chapter
2 321, Lave of Florida, Acts of 1953.

In accordance with the opinion of the Attorney
General, none of the $20,000 appropriated for the
purposes of this study was spent for expenses of
the Committee. The appropriation was used to pay
staff expenses and salaries and the costs of pro-
ducing the report. We anticipate that about

$9 000 of the appropriation will be unused and
will revert to the General Fund of the State.

The surplus of funds is due mainly to the complete
cooperation of the Joint Committee on.Eduoationa1
Television which furnished, at no expense to the
State, valuable consulting services and engineer-
ing information. The Committee wishes to express
its appreciation for the cooperation of Mr. Ralph
Steetle, Director, Mr. Halter B. Emery, Consul-
tant and Ir. 0. H. Braum, Consulting Engineer, all
of the Joint Committee on Educational Television.

The report is being submitted in this form so that
recommendations of the Council can be included
prior to distribution to the members of the Legis-
lature.

Respectfully submitted,

Farris Bryant
Chairman, Committee on
Educational Television
