Deer Farris:

It seems that en attempt will again be made during this term of
the Legislature to change the law prohibiting' lengthening the

wheelbase of school bus chassis by cutting and extending the
frame.

The Engineering Staffs of truck menufacturing companies do
not recommend thie practice and their guarantees are void if

it is done .

In Marion County last week, we had a forcible example of the
nfety factor involved. If our bus that was rammed by a speed-
ing car had had a light extended frame the re would likely have

been disastrous resulta .

Should such a bill be introduced in the House, I would appreciate
it greatly if you feel that you can refer it to the Education
Committee rather then the Motor Vehicle Committee.
