ESTIMITB 0? STATE SCROOL LUNCH FUNDS NEEDED m 1953-1955

Adequate school lunches should be made available to all public school children
for the cost or food only. Federal and State tax funds should be provided to
meet the non-food (payroll, utilities, cleaning supplies, paper goods, expendable
equith and other miscellaneous costs of operation) cost of the school lunch

program.

Non-food costs of the school lunch gages for 1951-52 were 83,500,000
Federal school lunch funds received amounted to 1,200,000
The non-food cost the State should have paid munted to {ZWNOO

Nonfood cost estimate for 195361;, using the November 1952
school lunch attendance figure and allowing for e 15%

growth, the amount or state funds needed if federal funds
also increase 15% $2,600,000
If federal funds do not increase, the munt needed would be .2, 825,000
