SENATE BILL NO. 1106

Senate 3111 No. 1106 is a method of apportioning the
the membership of the Senate and the House of Representatives
of the State of Florida on a fair, fluid and fundamental basis.
This is the same way the Senate and House of Representatives of
the United States are apportioned. It gives one (1) Senator to
each county and one (1) Representative for each twenty thousand
(20,000) population or major part thereof. except that no
county shall have less than one (1) Representative and no
county shall have less than the number presently authorized.
The current Federal census is used for the official population
figures.

The attached material is an analysis of the state by
counties showing the number of Representatives each county
would be entitled to using different population figures.

This is presented for comparison and study in the event a
higher population figure is deemed more appropriate than the
twenty thousand (20,000) used in Senate Bill No. 1106.

Using twenty thousand (20,000) population or a major
part thereof, the total number of Representatives is one
hundred thirty nine (1:59), but five (5) counties have one
less thsnthey have at present. Adding these five (6) the
grand total number of representatives is one hundred forty-
four (144).

Using thirty thousand (30,000), the total is one hundred
twenty (120) Representatives, with eleven (11) counties
having one less than at present. This gives a grand total
of one hundred thirty one (131).

Using forty thousand (40,000), the total is one hundred
thirteen (113) Representatives, with thirteen (13) counties

having one less than at present, giving a grand total of

one hundred twenty-six (126).

.1

Using um thousand (50,000). the total 10 ninety

two Representative: (92). with fifteen (16) counties

having one less then It present, making a grand total

or one hundred seven (10?).
