Dear Farris:
Last night I watched the thirty minute Doyle Carlton television
show and I thought you might be interested in my analysis, which is as
follows:
i. This was a film and appeared to me to have been prepared
by professionals at considerable cost. In my Opinion. it was entirely too
long and boresome It did not do the Job which it was supposed to and I
think the reaction from the public in general who saw it would be negative.
It evidenced too much maney and gave the impression that Carlton was
trying to buy the election.
2. To me. Carlton appeared to be a demagOgue of the first order
and having ably rehearsed what he had been told to say.
3. The program was full of corn. but Carlton was at his best
when shown with his wife and children.
4. The film apparently had not been viewed beforehand by any-
one with factual knowledge. The most glaring example of facts being
distorted was the claim that Carlton had strongly supported the bobtail
turnpike. As you know. the records disclose that he voted against the
bobtail turnpike (our times on the same day. The prOgram also claimed
him to be the co-introducer of the full-length turnpike bill. and in this
regard I think you should have someOne check the records to obtain the
actual facts as the {acts may be contrary to his claim.
50 that we don't make similar mistakes, I suggest that all of the

people in different sections of the State and be screened carefully before
being used.
With warm regards, I urn,
Sincerely.
