Dear Max:

Section 101. Bi, Florida Statutes, provides for poll
watchers. It requires designation by the candidate in written
noticen the County Supervisor of Elections at least fourteen
days in advance of the election date. That means April 19th is
the last date. i am not sure of the value or necessity of poll
watchers. in my judgment. if they have any valuable function.
it is that of checking off those that vote and being able to have
a telephone system set up to get out your supporters who might
not have voted as the election progresses. it takes quite an
organizauon and a great deal of etlort to do it, but we have
always done it in local elections. At any rate, if you Wish to
do it. i would suggest written designations to the Supervisors
of each County, designating the Chairman of the County
Committee and in the designation, designate the Chairman a5
Farris Deputy to designate other poll watchers. Technically.
i think the Deputy if so designated would have to file the names
of the poll watchers with the County Supervisor of Registration
not later than April llk

Sincerely yours,
