( FOR GOVERNOR
Green Cove Springs, Fla.
March 2, 1060.
Dear 8111:
Sorry there was not sufficient time to discuss
several matters while you wise here last Monday, and par-
ticularly your remarks about Alex, and would like to bring
you up to date on that so you may discuss the matter with
Farris and Hex.
At Parris' request and with Jah'e approval, I
made a special trip to Miami last year, met Ferris and
Ninton King at the DuPont Plaza, and went with them to
Alex's office as previously arranged with him. There was
a lengthly and good discussion, details or which Farris
will remember. Alex agreed to go alo with Farris, but
brought up some matters to which no de inite answer was
given, and I knew there were some reservations in his mind.
He still supports Farris, but to secure the all out help
you spoke of while here, I can only suggest that at an
early and opportune time rarris should see Alex, and put
the question squarely up to him "Just what can I do Alex,
or what do you want me to do, to secure your all out
support such as you have given to Holland and others?"
I am satisfied Alex will iye him a definite straight
answer and will ask noth cg that Farris cannot agree to
in good conscience. And I am certain that Alex has no
idea or asking for anything concerning him personally.
one thought I have is to think back to what Sid Reeves
had to say when we talked with him at the DuPont Plaza.
As you know, Jab and Gardner are 100% for
rarrie, but neither one of them would even ccns er trying
to bring any pressure on Alex. It is something that only
Farris can swing.
Regards to all.
ft
R. L. Richard.
