Mr. Farris Bryant
P.O. Box 563
Deals, Fla.

Dear Farris:

I hope you are getting eight hours every night so you'll feel in
top shape quick. That Tampa lunch should have been great therapy
in itself, though.

Perrine and I have been talking about problems, of course, and we
agree that mug the items of greatest importance for imediate
processing are the following listed in order as to Perrine's idea
as to most important to eVentual success:

1. You to get with John Knight with George Smathers anywhere in USA,
but quick .

2. Find a campaign manager for state.

3. Orlando Sentinel although I have told Perrine that you have already
moved on Anderson.

I pass this on for your information.

Enclosed are a number of clips which, when you read some of them,
may cause you to believe I am getting batty. However, they concern
local interest items related to Dade County and although most of
them are not related to the governor's responsibility, they are
very important here in the state's largest county. I believe that
it will help you to be up to date on same, but that is not the most

important thing.

We have discussed the possibility of staging a "Talkathon" here and
maybe elsewhere. I have no idea now whether we ever will, but
should we it will be necessary to be informed on many subjects of
interest to listeners though of no application to the governor's
chair. Therefore, after glancing through this stuff which I will
be forwarding from time to time, please mark up anyway that suits
you and place in a large box in your office. Then, should we need
same, it will be ready for us to plow through it in getting you
ready. Meantime, it will allow you to comant on various subjects

when down here with evidence of very intense interest in Dade's
welfare.

Have you made any move toward getting a research nan? The man
who I believe you described as a former executive secretary to
a speaker of the house sounds about right and I hope you can get

him, or some qualified person going very quickly. I would want
to spend at least a day with him when you have him ready to con-
tribute my thoughts on objectives.

And we'll see you here on the 14th.

Julian Cole is now free to join in the battle and he will make
the Jacksonville and Panama City neetings. I want hhn to becone
well acquainted now so that we can share split responsibilities
when the going gets rough. I'd like you to know that in my
experience he is the finest press relations nan of then all. I'll
make the Orlando meeting, and it may be that we both will.

we should firm up the date of the announcement right away, Farris,
as well as the program, because we will have a very great deal to
accomplish to score a real top-notch event with "all roads to

Orlando crowded" on that day. Can we set Dec. 14th as the day of
decision?

Best regards,

75.4.
