Dear Bruce:
We in lndtan River County have a rather aetive
Republican organization and I know they wl ll go down the
line in voting for all Republican nominees. l have not as
yet seen any indication of their gaining any support in the
Gubernatorial campaign outside of the registered Republican
group. in our county. it is about one-third of the registered
vaters. l have often speculated that on a national basis. our
county is probably predominantly Republican, since it has
gone that way several times in the pat. We are keeping
our eyes on the situation. but do not anticipate any problems
here. They do seem to be making considerable Republican
progress in the National election, but it is my opinion that
this is caused by the civil rights and liberal platform of the
Democratic Party, plus the religious issue.
With best regards. i am.
Sincerely yours,
Sherman N. Smith. 1r. Q
