Dear Farris:

I nut to express my congratulation and extreme
pleasure over your election to our Bovernor..tor the next
four As I have previoniy ntategi, the people of
Florida could not he in better hands' than tth are with you.

At the sane time, I want to expuna our extreme
apologies for our showing here in Orangepounty. M. this
tune I do not know an the reasons and whereronea but I think
we cannot escapethe not" that the primary 'reawn is that the
epublioane out-hustled no in this coun ; I personally was
entirely too complacent and I feel that 3; was the situation
or all or your chief supporters. Onlthe gubernatorial level
however. it appears that the change developed most strongly
the last ten days. 3111 Bowie, x and many others
were not keeping abreat or the matter we ahould have.

With the tremendous Republican chatting here I don't know
that we could have carried the with but we certainly could
have considerably narrowed the margin; nearly everyone I
speak to in _very pleasedana gratified that you were elected
but new or those name poople didnt vote to:- you. I on too
young and naive to understand humnature to the extent that
I can explain that...
