Mr Farris Bryant
Ocala
Florida

Dear Farris:

I appreciate very much your calling last night and am
delighted that the convention Came out well. I had a nice conversation
with Joe this morning and he was delighted with your interest.

1 got to thinking last night after you called and before
I talked to Joe. that it might be a good idea sometime this fall. perhaps
in September, to have the Rotary Club in Jacksonville sponsor a luncheon
with all the civic clubs and have Senator Kennedy come down and make
a talk and get you over here to introduce him. 1 mentioned this to Ice
this morning, and he said that he thought it was a very good idea, and if

he is still in charge of Florida, which he expects to be. that he would
like very much to kick of: their campaign in Florida in Jacksonville and

would like to do it that way. I told him I would go ahead and mention it
to you to get your thoughts on it.

I am a member of the Jacksonville Rotary Club and would
be glad to talk to them about it. but have not at this point and won't
until i hear from you and hear further from Joe. Joe says it will be two
or three weeks anyway before the Kennedy campaign headquarters gets
set on their fall campaign plane.

Incidentally. Scoop Jackson is a very good friend of Joe's
and once while I was in Washington Scoop and Joe took me to lunch in the
Senate Dining Room which I enjoyed very much. and Joe feels very pleased
to have Scoop in that position. Ioe said he certainly enjoyed meeting Julia
while there and i am delighted you got a chance to get to know each other
better.

Mr. Pem- Bryant
