lZID E. Robinson Avenue
Orlando. Florida
August l5. 1960
Honorable Ferris Bryant
Democratic Nominee for Governor
Ocala. Florida
Dear Mr. Bryant:
in response to your request. asking the people to write you how they
feel about the National Democratic ticket. l am writing at this time
hoping it will be of some use in helping you to make up your mind how
to vote in the November election. I hope you find your answer to be
I'NOID.
The platform. including the civil rights plank. is not a just one for
the prople at large. lt endangers our U. S. A. freedoms. Centralized
government. (Federal regulations). causes a government to fall. The
United States of America has been a nation where free competition and
free enterprise prevailed but if we come under federal rule we will
find ourselves entangled in the clutches of bureaucratic government.
The South is never recognized in making up the platform or plank. only
a few liberals who want to rule out the freedom. which molten it quite
plain that we do not rate in importance.
The very worst thing that can befall this nation is "Federal Rule". lt
taltss away individual freedom and it dissolves stats sovereignty. We
will truly be in bondage to such a plan and suffer the consequences. I
do not want the federal law to tell me what i have to do in regard to my
home. business or my social life. It is true we are created equal but
we are not born equal or all of us would be millionaires.
The NAACP is getting the recognition while the white race is being
belittled and finally destroyed. i am sure all intelligent people want
the negro to have equal facilities hospitals. schools. nurses. doctors.
playgrounds. swimming pools. rest rooms. living Quarters and eating
places but to have all of these things in their own environment. This
will do more to raise the colored race than any public mixture. The
NAACP wants to destroy our way of life, which stems out of communism.
Under the National Democratic ticket it will be a federal offense not to
mix in social and business affairs. There are too many negroes below
the Mason-Dixon Line and certainly the white race should be given the
same freedom in choosing their way of life as is being advocated for
the colored race.
Honorable Ferris Bryant August 15. 1960

I am sure there are many voters who feel the same as I. People are
confused and disturbed in their minds, md many will not vote at all.
which is not the way to win.
Mr. Bryant. 1 voted for you because you seemed to be {or the people
and not special interests. You want to curb wasteful and unnecessary
spending: you said you were not in favor of increased taxation.(which
is already a burden), and you advocated segregation. which is right.
The Holy Bible proves segregation as certain nations were forbidden
to marry or intermarry outside of their Own race of people. If our
blessed U.8.A. is to remain intact, balanced and free we must not
sell Our heritage {or a mess of pottsge. Let our states remain sovereign
and not invite dictatorship rule.
May the wisdom of God be your guidance in casting your vote in
November.
