Honorable Farris Bryant
P. O. Box 1773
Ocala. Florida
Dear Fart-i s:
Just a note to thank you [or your courtesy in writing Mr. Sawyer
your letter of appreciation.
From our past talks and correspondence. you indicated to me that
you would like the benefit of my advice on certain matters, and I would like
to take it upon myself to offer the following suggestion without being asked
for it.
it seems to me that Dade County should have some representation
on the State Road Board. To me that means a man who has proven himself
a successful businessman, who is above reproach, who is nancially in a
position to devote the necessary time to the job, who is extremely popular
with the people, both rich and poor, who has had experience in government,
and who does what he thinks is right regardless of the television or the press,
and who was a supporter of Farris Bryant. in looking for a person to fit
these qualifications. there has been only one name that has come to my mind
and that is A. C. (Charlie) Kittel. Mr. Kittel is financially independent. has
owned and operated his own business, namely. The Crystal Springs Water Co.
for many years in Miami. has been appointed to the County Commission to
fill Ed Mason's unexpired term, and will serve as a County Commissioner
until this coming January, and is extremely popular with the people oi Dade
County and is interested in only one thing, and that is of being of service
to his County and to his State.
I could not recommend a man more highly than Charlie Kittel.
and I ask you to consider his name when you are selecting your staff.
Honorable Farris Bryant

I hope that you have had a chance to rest up. and 11 there in anything
that I can do nancially or otherwise in the November election. please
let me know.
I look forward to your inauguration in January. and I am planning
to nttend.
Sincerely.
