Honorable Farris Bryant
Ocala
Florida
Dear Governor:
Nancy and I certainly enjoyed being with you and Mrs. Bryant
in Los Angeles and sincerely appreciate your kindness in
including us among your luncheon guests. This was one of
the high spots of the convention for us. and we will always
be grateful to you.
I completely understand your position with respect to the
Rational ticket. as are far more interested in seeing that
you and our Congressional delegation and other Florida
Democratic leaders are not jeopardized by their campaign
activity than in any other aspect of the campaign. I do feel
that it is important. as I know you do, to have a Democratic
administration and I am hopeful that you, in your quiet and
most effective manner. can assist the National ticket without
jeopardizing your own position in this campaign.
I know that members of the State Committee would appreciate
your good and sound counsel and advice in this connection.
and I hope you will call upon the entire cesnittee to assist
you in your efforts. You may rest assured that the majority
of the committee not only understand, but also completely
appreciate the position which you have publicly expressed.
With best wishes to Mrs. Bryant and with kindest personal
regards, I am
Si rel .
. rdin Peterson, Jr.
